Citizen First Homepage
Citizen First is an INTERREG IIIB project which aims to reduce the digital
divide that affects communities and citizens in the territories of Mid-West
Region (Ireland), Eindhoven Region (Netherlands), West Flanders (Belgium) and
Cambridgeshire (UK).
The project's objective is:
To empower North West Europe Citizens by engaging with their communities to
deliver the services that they require in an inclusive Information Society that
overcomes social & spatial isolation.
Citizen First for eInclusion
The Citizen First project was extended until October 2008 to build-on, broaden and extend the Citizen First local eGovernment citizen-centric services to the next stage of socially-inclusive citizen-centric local eGovenment services, in preparation for the wider Social Inclusion & Participation issues of INTERREG IV. The consortium aims to outreach its results beyond the current consortium and to make available key practical Guidelines to all NWE regions, and actively participate in the Commission’s 2008 e-Inclusion Initiative.
Citizen First for eInclusion extends the work of Citizen First to making local eGovernment ICT services both citizen-centric and socially-inclusive, by:
- Building on what has been learned in the previous project through transnational cooperation, best practice & experience-sharing in the 4 NWE regions (Cambridgeshire (UK), Eindhoven (NL), Kortrijk (BE) and Mid West (IE)) and producing practical guidelines for all NWE regions.
- Extending each region’s suite of citizen-centric services within their local context and objectives to deliver best practices in eInclusive public services
- Proactively disseminating the experience and results to all NWE Regions. Based on the actions above the consortium is producing, documenting and disseminating its results in the form of practical Guideline Fiches to all NWE Regions (available for download from the “Guidelines” option on the left hand list of this page).
- The project will end with a major conference “Citizen First – using Technology to include ALL Citizens” to be held in Ennis, Ireland, on 25-26 September 2008 (see the “Final Conference – Ennis” on this page).
